This RapidGuard additive solution is a new generation inorganic broad spectrum silver-ion antimicrobial. Silver-ion is the base product used in all our solutions and represents the future for bacteria and virus control across multiple markets. It is highly active against gram-positive, gram-negative bacteria, viruses, mould (mold) and yeast. The MasterBatch antimicrobial is bound into the polymer product during the moulding process. Even in very low test doses of 1 to 3% additives the results of our test plates have shown a minimum of 99% of all bacteria and virus spores killed off on a plastic substrate. (see lab tests page)

In previous organic generations of antimicrobial additives there have been problems with toxicity to humans causing irritations and skin complaints. This was due to the high mobility of organic molecules which can also result in shortened product life. RapidGuard’s silver-ion antimicrobial has overcome these toxicity problems and opens up new markets where human contact is prevalent.

RapidGuard’s Smart Ion Solutions can combine multiple metal ions in a polymer matrix suitable for control and elimination of the following:
